Medical Director

VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

POSITION: 

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  A medical degree from an accredited institution and experience working in an outpatient mental health setting.  Experience should include administrative, clinical and supervisory skills as well as the ability to provide education and leadership in medical matters.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:  Licensure by the Colorado State Board of Medical Examiners and certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology are required.  The ability to speak Spanish is desirable but not required.  Background and licensure searches will be performed.  Valid Colorado driver license.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the administrative supervision of the President/Chief Executive Officer, the Medical Director is responsible for the medical and psychiatric services of the Center which include-
  • supervising the work of all physicians and medical staff persons;
  • ensuring that all clients receive appropriate psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment (including medications when appropriate) and screening for medical or physical disorders;
  • ensuring that appropriate standards for medical procedures are followed including, but not limited to, medication storage and  monitoring, management of hazardous medical materials, health  and infectious disease regulations;
  • ensuring that all clinical staff receive appropriate training,  education and supervision concerning psychiatric and medical  issues;
  • ensuring that accurate, complete and up to date clinical and medical records are kept for all clients;
  • participating in setting and evaluating Center and program services standards and serving on appropriate councils and committees;
  • providing appropriate liaison between the Institute and other health providers in the community;
  • providing, or supervising the provision of, accurate and appropriate documentation and testimony to the court concerning involuntarily committed, conditionally released or  otherwise court ordered clients; and,
  • performing other duties as assigned by the President, Chief Executive Officer.
